Artist's Statement:

"Born and raised in Northern Virginia, I studied art at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond. After four years in the Air Force I moved to Goldsboro, NC where I started and still own a sign painting business."
"My love of the coast and surfing led me to find a home near North Topsail Beach, NC. I moved there several years ago so I could devote more time to painting coastal scenes, marsh scapes, and water-related subjects."
"Almost everything I paint is done alla prima, like my hero Claude Monet, and modern day California Impressionsits Ken Auster and Kevin McPherson. Of course, this technique has its unique challenges. Wind, rain, bugs, and blinding sun are a few of the things I face. Painting alla prima adds a simplicity and bold vibrancy you can feel when looking at a painting. My desire is that when you view one of my paintings you feel the wonder of God's beautiful handiwork like I did when painting it. I strive to capture the impression of color and the illusive effect light has on an object or landscape."
